Getting started

Install

1. Download FastRepo from the Mac App Store. It costs 5,99 EUR once.
2. Open the app. It has no dock icon. Look for the mark in the menu bar.

FastRepo needs macOS 14 or later. The global shortcut uses the Carbon hotkey API, so the app never asks for the Accessibility permission.

Connect GitHub

On first launch FastRepo opens a welcome window. Click Connect GitHub: your browser opens, you approve once, and the panel is ready. Reconnect later from Settings, tab GitHub.

The browser sign-in covers everything your GitHub account can see, private repositories included. FastRepo never sees your password, and the credential stays in the macOS Keychain.

Minimal permissions instead

Prefer to grant less? Connect with the GitHub App, linked under Settings, tab GitHub. It asks one permission, repository Metadata: Read, and you install it only on the accounts you choose. Read What FastRepo can see for the difference.

Open your first repository

1. Press ⌃⌘G.
2. Type a few letters of the name.
3. Press Return. The repository page opens in your browser.

⇧Return opens the repository's local clone in your code editor instead. See Open in your editor.

Make it yours

• Launch at login and your code editor: tab General.
• Accent color and the menu bar icon: tab Appearance. The activity cube fills with GitHub greens as you push.
• Sound packs and volume: tab Sound.
• FastRepo speaks English and French, following the macOS language.

Where your data stays

• The token stays in the macOS Keychain, service com.solarbeam.FastRepo.
• The repository list stays in local app settings, for search between two syncs.
• FastRepo talks to api.github.com and to nothing else. Solar Beam Studio receives no data. See the privacy policy.
